The places mEgos go….

April 23rd, 2008

I was just culling together a list of various places put their mEgos and wanted to highlight what a huge dynamic social networking web we have, ripe with bizarre, niche, destinations like www.redneckcousins.com. I can’t share actual links with you to many of those places because profiles are private.

mEgos are living on over 600 different social networks and 100s of blogs. It’s really exciting. I am taking the liberty of promoting some of these public pages below. We live in the coolest era.

mEgo now in 16 languages!

March 30th, 2008

If you want to see your mEgo in Hungarian, Korean, Spanish or many other languages, click on the “my settings” tab in the upper navigation, and you will find language as a new choice.  Our site was translated into all these tongues as part of the adidas contest, and we’re happy to extend it to our users. It’s pretty cool to see all these foreign language mEgos. For example:

Entrepreneur Magazine Coverage

February 23rd, 2008

We got this awesome write up in Entrepreneur Magazine,March 2008

All in One

Thanks to this dynamic duo, it’s never been easier to put one face to all your online personalities

Managing multiple profiles on Blogger, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, MySpace and various other sites can be quite a hassle for users. Or it used to be, before mEgo–the brainchild of Ariel McNichol and Julia Johnston, 35 and 39, respectively–came along. An mEgo is a single, dynamic, portable online profile that integrates all of a user’s photos, links, feeds and more. It can be instantly shared on major social networking sites, blogs and IM clients.online

Catching Up

February 23rd, 2008

Well, it’s been far too long since we last blogged here – but it’s all for good reasons. We’ve been growing quickly and trying to launch new features.  And how exciting is our industry?  Since we launched, Open Social has been released and it’s more than just rhetoric at this point, at least so far as being a one-way API. MySpace is actually using it. Then there’s dataportability.org which if adhered to makes some of the future features we have planned a zillion times easier to implement. Ah, yes. I guess fate rewards those who work like dogs for a few years on something designed to help people.

Oh there are so many things to tell you about. Where to start. We’ll, we’re at 44,000 users who are an awesome bunch so far. And, most of them have joined in the past month.  It’s amazing to see how diverse people are, what they like to eat, buy, dream about. I’m in love with humanity after my daily mEgo browsing. We’re fascinating creatures!  Our users are from all over the world too, real, complex, unique.  It’s obvious how many people do use more than one social network, if not on a daily basis, at least.

The Rush of Being Live

September 27th, 2007

We are all so excited to have the site live, and be able to look at what real users are doing! It’s been an incredible last 10 days - we have done so much, and yet we have so much to do! The biggest news: People are making awesome mEgos and posting them all over! It’s wonderful.
We’ve fixing a bunch of small usability issues that will make Notes and Registration a lot smoother. And, we’re about to push some new features and enhancements. We want to get the site flow humming and then we’re off to try and get massive number of users.

In the meanwhile, everyone who has made a mEgo, thank you. You’re making the first of their kind, and really helping us see how to evolve the product. If you have any feedback, please email us anytime: ideas@mEgo.com

DEMO

September 27th, 2007

I’d like to comment on a clear inaccuracy that DEMO is making about our involvement with their conference. We would have loved to present at DEMO. Unfortunately we misunderstood the contract. By the time they approached us about TC40 it was too late to change plans. This was really distressing because did a lot of work and preparations to attend. When they officially informed us that we were pulled because of our involvement with TC40, we asked for our money back. They didn’t mention anything about our not getting our 18k back in any of the correspondence with them until it was far too late.

We offered them anything we could think of in order to be able to resolve the situation, including closing the site down. They didn’t care. Demo is supposed to help start-ups, right?

We totally admit that we messed up with regard to the contract, but the fact that they did not warn us about the financial consequences just makes the whole thing feel unreasonable. Yes, they were contractually right, but we feel like it was morally wrong.

LAUNCHING :)!!!!

September 17th, 2007

At last, the blog can come alive with mEgo product news and information. We launch tomorrow! The past few months have been quite intense - and it became increasingly hard to blog without telling you all about mEgo features as we obsessed over them.

We are really honored and excited to be launching at the http://techcrunch20.com conference.  OK, now back to bugs and presentation prep.

Back on the Blog

May 24th, 2007

Well, the blogging hiatus has ended! We see a world with more widgets and scrappers than the last time we blogged which is reassuring. What a wonderful time to be making products. We’re in QA right now and about ready to launch our limited beta! We have brought on some amazing team members and advisors while we’ve built, tested, revised and cleaned up…It will be so exciting to see mEgos living all over the place - and, to get the feedback of strangers. Because, mEgo is made for these strangers to love and use and want and need. OK, now back to testing…

Blogging Hiatus

October 3rd, 2006

The good news is that our lull in blogging is due to intense productivity. Soon, we’ll be back to convey the mEgo perspective on exciting news related to profiles, online id’s, social networking, widgets and mash-ups. We’re getting very close to launching our private alpha, so all keystrokes and eye batting is needed on mEgo development. We’re really excited to bring you a wonderful and groundbreaking experience quite soon.
